Dog Friendly Holidays

For many people, a family holiday is not complete without the company of their beloved furry four-legged friend! Doggy pals are often an integral part of the family unit and anyway, who really wants to impose the responsibility of looking after their pet on somebody else? The cost of a shelter can add an undesirable burden on the family budge or the other option of engaging a pet-sitter is not always a favourable one. With the growing trend in Australia for pets to be taken on vacation, many destinations including Mandurah have now taken to catering for the demand for pet friendly accommodation and services.

Ocean View Beach House is often the number one accommodation many pet owners choose for a number of specific reasons.

Enclosed Yard

At the top of the list, OVBH has an enclosed yard which is at the very top of most dog owner’s lists. The limestone wall around the perimeter of the large area provides a safe and sheltered location for your pet to wander while you are out for the day.

Every fur-baby loves to explore the garden and play on the large, grassed area of the front yard. There is plenty of room for them to join in with a game of cricket or play ball with the kids while you lie on the day bed and read a book, all the while knowing that everyone is having a good time while you relax!!

Sheltered Areas

The front yard has an overhanging balcony to shelter from rain and the wall is a great wind blocker during the afternoon sea-breeze. There are locations all around the house to protect your pet from the weather while they wait for your return.

Dog Beach

Blue Bay Beach has dog friendly areas located right across the road from the house and is the perfect place to walk your pooch. It is also family friendly and has shallow areas for young children to swim and play. The sunset views here are highly rated and an extra special treat as you wander along the shoreline.

Balcony Views

Some visitors have complained that now their dog wants their own balcony! I wonder why?

Indoor Comfort

Ocean View Beach House is pet-friendly but it is also in a beautiful location. Many find it difficult when travelling with their pets that it is often difficult to find accommodation that is not only pet-friendly, but also stylish, clean and well cared for. We want Ocean View to feel like home from home for everyone, so they include all those important details that make a home feel loved.

Pet Friendly Café Nearby

ToD’s is a wonderful pet friendly café within five minutes walking distance. Similar to the Dome, ToD’s is located directly across from Doddi’s Beach so you can enjoy the scenery while enjoying a coffee or meal. Tod's has plenty of open air and covered outdoor tables where Fido can join you.

Doggy Treats

We surprise your pooch with a delectable treat on arrival sourced from Waggles. Waggles is a micro-business with a mission to create delicious homemade “furbaby” treats for the many loved pooches of Perth.

Its founder, Amy Pugh, is a talented, gregarious young woman in her mid-20’s living with an intellectual disability and verbal dyspraxia, neither of which negatively impacts her immense zest for life.

Amy is a long-time volunteer at The Animal Protection Society, caring for dogs of all shapes and sizes, and also at Manna Inc, where she helps prepare meals for the homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable. In founding Waggles, Amy’s goal is to blend her passion for animal care and cooking, and you can support her to succeed by spoiling your pooch. Top Tips for Travelling with Dogs:

Always take a towel/towels with you for your pet, even if you are not expecting to be near water during the holiday. You can use this if they get wet, require a bath, or get sick.

Ensure that your pet has a collar on him/her at all times and that attached is an ID tag with the animals name, your name, address and phone number. Some travellers find it useful to use editable tags so that they can record the address of their accommodation whilst on holiday.

Animals can easily become stressed in a new environment and this can affect their behaviour, digestive patterns and thus affect you and your pet's enjoyment of the holiday. Even little things like a familiar blanket, toy or bed can help ease the animal into the new surroundings.

Remember doggy bags for those unexpected moments that you let your pet out of the car and a ‘little message’ is left behind!

If your pet requires specific medication be sure to refill it before your trip to make sure you have enough. Also, be sure you bring enough food for the entire trip plus a few extra days, just in case. You don’t want to be forced to purchase a different bag of food than they are used to eating, especially if they are on a restrictive diet. It could upset their stomach.
